Short Description of the structure In June and September the castle closes at 21.00 pm. The most ancient of the Aragonese castle dates back to the 12th-13th century and was built on the remains of the Byzantine fortress. The castle, with a rectangular plan and four corner towers of various shapes and sizes, is composed of an entrance protected by a moat and a drawbridge, now removed. There is a courtyard used for the storage of agricultural products that were marketed. In the courtyard there are also the doors of the rooms on the ground floor. The structure, completely restored in recent years, has a modern and functional conference room and hosts, in the halls and in the angular tower of the east, the Civic Museum Antonio Lazzari with the permanent archaeological exhibition Castrum Minervae, between Greeks and Messapi, which numerous and various finds from the recent excavation campaigns carried out in the area of ​​the historic center.
