Brief description of the distance from the point of arrival to the entrance: The bus stop is about 250 meters from the entrance to the castle. The route is structured by sidewalks with one road crossing. The last section is pedestrian on a stone surface. The route is mostly flat.

Short Description of the structure The castle is located in the upper part of Monte Sant'Angelo, its origins date back to the years 837-838, at the time of Orso I, bishop of Benevento and Siponto. It has undergone several modifications and improvements, mainly by Normans, Swabians and Aragoneses. From the outside you can see the walls that surround the castle, which is also defended by a moat crossed by a drawbridge. A portal leads to the inside of the castle, which shows on the right the guard post, the stables and the ammunition depot, on the left a staircase leading to the tower above and an access to the outside. From the vestibule, with a courtyard more than 21 meters long, we proceed towards the internal courtyard, wide and bounded by defensive glacis and by two towers, between which stands the portal of the innermost section of the structure. The Sala del Tesoro is accessible thanks to a staircase that leads to the upper floors, and is supposed to be a place to organize parties and convivial moments. From this room it is possible to access both the mansions of the castellans and those of the courtiers. The ground level is accessible and with a path that leads to Piazza d'Armi; from the infopoint it is possible to reach the Square Tower and the educational spaces via ramps. From Piazza d'Armi you reach the Cisterna tower where an elevator allows you to visit the first floor where the Archaeological Museum (currently lacking in archaeological finds), the Sala del Tesoro, the Hall of Apartments are located.
