Short Description of the structure The Ducal Palace of Martina Franca partly houses the offices of the Municipality of Martina Franca. The main floor is open to the public. The Palace was built in 1668, on the remains of an ancient castle. It was a grandiose and expensive project that was based on that of the sumptuous Roman palaces, so much so as to consist of 300 rooms, chapels, stables, courtyard, theater and guesthouse. The palace was never completed, as it was originally designed, due to the huge expenses. The facade is made in typical Baroque style. Valuable frescoes decorate the rooms of the royal apartments. Part of the building houses temporary exhibitions.
